“Since moving to Stowe with a young family in 1985 I’ve been very grateful to have so many thoughtful, dedicated, hardworking Selectboard members and I count Billy as one of the best. Experience is important when talking about government leadership and his 14 years on the Board, including 5 times as Chair, means a lot to me. I also want to mention just a few successes during his tenure including managing Stowe’s response to the Covid epidemic, major flood responses and recovery efforts, significant construction projects like replacing Jackson Arena and burying all village utilities and establishing a special fund to prepare for and manage large capitol equipment replacements. Billy has also been a strong advocate for careful use of local option tax revenues to ensure we address any number of competing demands for public services and projects while keeping the municipal budget and property taxes as low as possible.
